Actually Getting Involved in Uni

Hello!

I was pretty busy during the month of February, and unfortunately, this month will be pretty busy too, since I have so much obligations.

Anyways, as the title suggests, I wanted to share to you guys about what I've been doing at university. +O+

So basically, in my first year of uni, I never really did anything outside of going to class and the library, except for participating in the official study groups.

I never really planned to get involved in extracurriculars because I figured there was none that was interesting, when in reality, I was just pretty nervous to actually explore beyond my comfort zone to see how those extracurriculars actually go about. I would say that I'm pretty much a coward when I'm in a place where I know of no one. Not sure if I used that term correctly.

Anyways, I did kind of took my first steps in the first term of my second year.

I was kind of low key ambitious in the beginning of my term, and since I figured out what I wanted to study, I wanted to meet more people within the same field and possibly learn more about it.

In my first term, I was an office hour holder for the Psychology Students' Association. After I got past the daunting application form (I really hate filling out paragraph related applications), I actually got accepted, which was surprising because I really have low self confidence.

Anyways, that experience was pretty nice. I was pretty grateful to get a time slot where I would get two different PSA office executives. Both of them were pretty nice and interesting. Very bright and intelligent people. The one thing I really admired about them was their ability to easily socialize with strangers and engage them in conversations, with no feeling of awkwardness. I'm working on that myself Q_Q. I'm more aware of silences and awkward ends to a conversation now, but sometimes I'm pretty sure I'm just overthinking it. This only occurs to people I'm not close with lol. I tend to have a diarrhea mouth though...and THAT is a problem that I have to deal with both online and in real life. I have to learn how to allow room for the other person(s) to actually talk and not bombard them with my words.

So, my first term went by smoothly, except for my bits of procrastination. .-. My marks did suffer for two of my heavy courses because of that. I hope to work harder for this term. Q_Q

For this term though, I did apply to be an office hour holder again. The only difference is that since it was more popular this term (I guess first years discovered this existed after completing the first term). We didn't have to do the mandatory "at least 2 hours" thing. You can just do an hour. I stay for the 2 hours because that office is one of the best places for me to actually do my readings. I don't know why. I can actually plow through 20+ pages in those 2 hours, when the office isn't busy (it usually never is because I always get the early morning shifts). Usually for my shifts too, it starts off with a lot of members, but most people drop out or get too busy. Majority of the time, I'm just alone with the exec.

I also took part in this promotions team for this scientific conference event. I didn't participate on the actual date because I had a test on the same day (curse math courses and having their tests ALWAYS on late Fridays).

I originally was going to talk about my "more fun" interesting extracurriculars in this post (stuff that I pursued that was related to my personal hobbies and interests), but it got a bit too long, and I am running out of time (lots of homework and midterms and assignments). I legit dropped an hour already lol.

So I shall talk about the rest in a separate post. I may divide them though, depending on how long they are.

Anyways, I am thankful to anyone that makes it to this end. I really love you!!

(even though I don't really do hugs, I really do LOVE hugs)

I should really learn to edit and proof read my posts before posting but I did make this blog to mimick something that I would write in my journal...

Until then!! Probably expect the continuation post next week. ♥
